Tatting is a knotted lace that came from the Nordic fishermens' net making technique in the 12th or 13th century. In the 15th or 16th century women started making lace with the same knot. It is basically 1 knot with a first half and a second half. The lace that is made with this technique is simply beautiful.

Here is a more traditional Candy Cane. These take about an hour each to make. Just enough time to relax a little and have a cup of tea on a cold evening.
