I think this will be the last of the Christmas stuff this year. The candy cane was done with 2 threads, red and white, on the same shuttle and so was the wreath. The star is also a celtic weave. I may not be updating until after the Holidays due to the oldest daughter's wedding and other celebrations through out the next two or three weeks. So Merry Christmas to all!!! And Happy New Year!!!

I made this for an Outage Challenge on E-Tatters Online Forum (The forum was down for a day and the challenge was to make something from start to finish during that time.)

This piece is fun to make and a bit of a challenge to get the weaving right. It is all chains and, thus, a good piece for beginners. It has 185 stitches.

The ecru star is #20 El Cheapo cotton thread (got a ball that was 1 1/2 miles long) and the white star (round 1) is #20 cotton thread. The glasses are a necessary part of my advanced years. The shuttle is one of the first ones I acquired. The leather pouch holds a pair of sissors, 9 crochet hook sizes 0 to 14 and 2 pins for picking out mistakes. The oak stool usually has a ball of thread and a cup of coffee or tea on it.

Here is a more traditional Candy Cane. These take about an hour each to make. Just enough time to relax a little and have a cup of tea on a cold evening.

Tennessee Christmas Candy Cane

This is a candy cane pattern that was posted on e-tatters as an early Chistmas gift to the members of that group. The pattern is the work of Julie Patterson and obviously she does good work. Her pattern calls for Red and White thread, but our bookkeeper at work is a Tennessee FAN-atic so that is why I used the Big Orange and White (Merry Christmas KM). I also think that it would be great in veriagated red to white or green to white or a mix of both.

This piece is a total of 628 stitches and took about 1 hour to complete. The hour included finding the BIG Orange thread and winding 2 shuttles. There is some weaving involved in making this piece which also took a couple of minutes to discover. All in all, a fun project.
